Short answer

Hydro jetting sends high-pressure water through the line with a nozzle that scours the full pipe wall. It is the right tool for grease-heavy kitchen lines, scaled cast iron and fine root growth, once a camera shows the pipe can take it.

What hydro jetting covers

When a line clogs every few months, it is usually because the inside of the pipe is coated: grease in a kitchen line, scale in cast iron, or a mat of fine roots in a sewer lateral. A cable opens a path, but the coating stays and catches the next clog. Jetting removes the coating.

We do not jet blind. Before jetting a sewer line, we run a camera to check for breaks, offset joints or thin pipe, because high pressure water can make a broken pipe worse. If the line is sound, jetting restores it close to its original diameter.

Hydro Jetting in Sacramento: what we see locally

Many mid-century homes across Arden-Arcade, Carmichael and Rancho Cordova have cast iron drains under the slab. Cast iron scales and rusts on the inside over decades, and jetting can buy those lines years before any replacement is needed.

Field note

We camera before and after jetting, so you can see both the problem and the clean pipe.

For restaurants and shops in Midtown, Downtown and along the commercial corridors, routine jetting of kitchen lines keeps grease from reaching the city main, which local wastewater rules discourage.

What you can safely do before we arrive

  1. Stop using drains on the affected line.
  2. Clear a path to the cleanout.
  3. Tell us about any recent backups or repairs.

Hydro Jetting questions

Can hydro jetting damage my pipes?

On a sound pipe, no. On a cracked or broken pipe, it can. That is why we camera the line first and adjust pressure to the pipe material.

Does jetting remove roots permanently?

It clears them very well, but roots will return through the same joints. Long term, the fix is a repair or lining that seals the joints.

How long does jetting take?

Most home sewer laterals take one to two hours including camera work.

How we handle hydro jetting

The same four steps on every visit, so you always know what happens next and what it costs.

  1. Camera check

Confirm the pipe is sound enough for jetting.

  2. Choose the nozzle

Grease, root and scale nozzles do different jobs.

  3. Jet the line

Work the nozzle up and back through the full length.

  4. Camera again

Show you the clean pipe and note anything that needs repair.
